Get your “Mo” on…It’s time for Movember!

That’s right!  It’s time for you to get your “Mo” on!  Why?  You may ask.  Simple—represent, baby!  Represent!

And that’s exactly what my handsome, scruffy pastor-man is doing…He’s getting his Mo on for Movember, and I am loving it!  (Probably especially because I dig the scruff)

My dad, The Mad Scientist, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer several years ago.  We were living in Poland, and his surgery took place while we are in Poland.  Cancer.  It’s a nasty sucker that has no respect of peoples.  Down with nasty cancer!

And I love the idea that November is a great time for all to remember, get the word out there, and take action.

Here are some stats that may surprise you (taken from the official Movember page)

*Did you know that 1 out of 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

*Over 238,000 new cases will be diagnosed in 2013, and over 30,000 will die from this cancer in the US alone

*A man is 35% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer than a woman with breast cancer

*If detected and treated early, prostate cancer has a 97% success/survival rate

Now, that’s a rate to celebrate!  Problem is…gotta get the word out there.  Gotta get the info out there.  Gotta get men aware.  Gotta work for prevention!

It’s Movember.  Encourage the men in your lives to get their “Mo” on! Even our son takes the challenge.  You should too.
