Boy and girl share a bedroom…How?

When we returned to Poland after having our 3rd baby in the US, we returned to a boy room and a girl room and a parent room.  Problem:  girl room belonged to girl 8 years older than infant.  Therefore, the adorable boy room had to go and become combo room.  He was only 2, and didn’t know any better—so it made my job easier.

Over the time we’ve since been returned to Poland, I have slowly begun the transition into cute yet manly all at the same time.

Most of the time, the combination of frills and macho overlap, but, in the end, the identities of both stand out.

The key was going with a main theme.  I love Paris.  Hence:  Theme Paris.  I also love vintage.  So we went with the theme of vintage bikes and Paris.  Red bike for Maxwell.  Green bike for Josephine.

When they were smaller—both in cribs, they each had a half of the room.  The half of the room that was decorated for them.  Now that they are bigger, however, they share a bunk bed —- and, although their halves are divided, life meshes everything together into one adorable whole.  As it should.

Here are some fun photos showing how to make a bedroom for your boy and girl work as parts of a whole.  Enjoy!

First up…their names and bikes.  I should add, for their beds I went with a black (mainly) theme since there wasn’t a lot of red and green comforters I liked.  Obviously this is Josephine’s name, bike, and bed.

Here are photos of Max’s name and bike—but now that he and Josephine are out of cribs, his bed is the bottom bunk (or is it?):

Next, I chose one more decoration per room side.  Max, however, also ended up with the photo board on his side.  I’m sure you’ll be able to see which is Josephine’s and then the others are Max’s:

The door was fun, too.  When Max was born, our then 6-year-old made him a humongous poster that we have never taken down.  So front-side of door belongs to Max.  Back to Josephine.  Hers is an Elsa Anna poster (I didn’t take a photo because we all know Frozen—smile and wink).  Here is Max’s side of the door:

In the end, however, their two lives mesh into one.

Barbie and Robot stand united:

Masked Minion and Princess Kitty guard the window:

And my favorite photo of them all…

Two hearts that still beat as one.  Even as they sleep!

And while I know they won’t share a bed or a room forever, these precious moments and years that they do, I pray connect them as best friends for a lifetime!

Laundry Mountain and Maxwell with his pretty shoes.

When you have one boy and two girls, you will most likely see your boy dressing as a girl than the other way around.  Now, mind you, he will have a wooden sword in one hand while prancing in pretty silver shoes at the same time.

But you do see his Batman underwear, right?

It’s like he’s all boy — with a dainty side 😉

Anyhow, I thought you may enjoy my laundry adventures with Max and Jo.  Which pretty much means I get no laundry done.

But I get the moments of love with my kids (although I am sure Josephine was feeling a little too loved tonight).

Have a great day and enjoy the episodes of Laundry Mountain!

GoGo my special sister!  Declares Maxwell.  Jo does NOT feel the love tonight 😉

There is “I” in TEAM.

Before and After: The “I” in Maxwell’s meaning of “TEAM”

I beg to differ when it comes to the wildly popular slogan, “There’s no I in TEAM”.

Now that I have two littles growing up together, I definitely see that there is “I” in “TEAM”, and yet it still works.

The oldest of my two littles (Adelyne is 9, so she will not be included in this blog) is Maxwell. He is 2, approaching 3.

My youngest is Josephine. She just turned 14 months.

And this is how my house functions with the “I” in “TEAM”.

Josephine is playing with something. Maxwell wants it. He takes it. Josephine is left without it. Josephine cries. Josephine wants it back. Max now SOLELY wants the very item he just took from his sister.

And, yet, she still plays with him, and they giggle and laugh and play some more.

When Josephine is in her high chair or upstairs for a nap, Maxwell insists, “Put GoGo Baby down, Momma!”  or “Get GoGo Baby up, Momma!” (GoGo Baby is his term of endearment for her).  He is not complete without her.  Even if he wants every item she has—just for himself!

So, right now, there is “I” in “TEAM”.  Maxwell is the “I”.  But without Josephine by his side, he still does not feel complete.  Like a whole TEAM.

Time will teach them both that eventually the “I” will have to become the “Ours”.  In the meantime, there is a pecking order with their teamwork, and it works for just fine for Maxwell.

Josephine?  Well, let’s just say, Maxwell is lucky that she is just a wee one.

One day, she will grow, and he may have to abdicate his throne.  Or perhaps there will be a coup?

Only time will tell with this “TEAM” 😉

Remote Basket…Coming off a sugar high!

Welcome to our world of parenting.

Here are the stats of the wee ones that made us parents:
Adelyne: 8 years of age. On the couch. Pleasantly happy at the moment.

Maxwell: 2 and 1/2 years old. On the floor. Had a great morning. Ate his oreos from Saint Nick for breakfast. Now miserably unhappy, fighting his little sister.

Josephine: The youngest. 10 months old. Did not have Oreos for breakfast but KNOWS…oh, yes, even at 10 months old, she knows which remotes work the television.

The problem is…Maxwell will have NONE of that.

Ruby Max, Elmo, Caillou! Is what you continue to hear him shout.

And, of course, our little 10-month-old drama queen is so traumatized that her brother’s grubby little paws steal her remote that she must flail her head onto my belly and cry (to put it mildly).

We are doing a GREAT job raising our children, right?!

In any case—we enjoyed every minute filming their Remote Basket moment and hope that it gave you a great chuckle for your day.

Enjoy our life of crazy—I guess our blog is perfectly titled, eh?!
